Vintage Reloaded P- Series

Our VR P Series humbucker pickups are based on the tones associated with vintage PAF’s. Our VR P Zero through to VR P 4 pickups all fall within the output ranges found in original PAF's and offer a tonal pallete that we believe has something for every style of player who like their classic tones in more than one flavour.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

VR-P Zero

Alnico 3,
7.1k bridge,
6.1k neck

The P-Zero is our "single coil (ish) humbucker" as it delivers some of the best tonal attributes of both types of pickup, but obviously in a humbucker package with their own unique flavour. This Set of pickups was the result of a simple winding accident. With cleans that would shame a choir of angels, the VR-PZero delivers some very unique tones. Don't let the low output figures fool you. Cranked through an amp on higher gain they deliver true humbucker growl, but with vintage vibe and clarity.

P-Zero Ibanez soundclip

We used a slightly different recording setup for the following clips; Trainwreck Express clone, Marshall 4X12, SM58 and a Zoom H4 portable digital recorder. The recording really emphasised the bass thump from the 4X12

VR-P1

Alnico 2
7.7k bridge
7.2k neck

Initially based on the fabled Greco/Maxon DRY-Z pickups, produced for only a couple of years and found only in their premium guitars, our VR-P1's have their own character and a quality to rival the best vintage or current production boutique pickups. Our VR-P1’s are very dynamic touch sensitive pickup, they respond very well to finger picking, with a range from smooth jazz tones in the neck position to an almost strat like clean bridge with the volume rolled back, but which can also deliver roaring classic rock tone. The neck position oozes those woody tones on the bass strings while retaining a nice balance with a sweet treble.

VR-P2

Alnico 5/2
Bridge 8.1k
Neck 7.4k

A little more growl and bite than the VR-P1 while retaining all the definition and clarity. Play open chords even under high gain and each string will still ring out true and clear. The P2 was developed to offer the perfect compromise, We really like the combination of an A5 Bridge and an A2 neck in this set.

VR-P3

Alnico 5
Bridge 8.6k
Neck 7.9k

This is the hottest pickup in the VR-P range, while retaining vintage charachter, the P3 delivers a ballsy vintage tone which can be tamed nicely to VR-P2 or even P1 territory with the volume control. Although these are hot pickups they retain clarity and string definition even through very high gain setting. This may be our most versatile stage pickup for the hard rock guitarist who likes to use the guitar volume control for adjusting their clean to scream. On a volume 4 it is very silimlar to the P1 on 10, so could be used for a lead boost.

Customer clips

Chris, USA : Thanks for the clips of the P-Zeros Chris, these were one of the early P-Zero sets

P-Zero Bridge clean

P-Zero Middle clean

Brandon USA : Brandon requested a set that was biased a little more in the treble frequencies. He also named his set the "Ugly Americans". I think we seriously need to rethink our policy of allowing customers to name their pickups .... This set was based on an output similar to our VR-P1's
